About the Journal

Founded in 1989, Global Change is a leading refereed journal that addresses the difficult practical and theoretical questions posed by a rapidly globalising world.  A world in which traditional concepts of 'security' centered on nation-states have failed to keep pace with dangers to humanity resulting from unchecked technological change, inequality, and economic and political systems that have destabilised the earth systems required for the sustainment of life. 

Peer Review: Global Change is internationally refereed with a double anonymized process. Research submissions are refereed by specialists in the field for originality, structural integrity and factual accuracy. An editorial review, referee reports and the author’s response to these reports form the basis of the decision whether to publish submitted articles. All decisions of the Editors are final.

Views expressed in articles and communications do not reflect the opinion of the Editorial Committee or the Editors. 

Research articles in Global Change should be between 5,000-7,000 words.  Please refer to our author guidelines for further details.

Opinion and Analysis articles in Global Change are 700-1,500 word reflective pieces.  The Editorial Committee welcomes diverse perspectives on contemporary issues.

Open Access: All manuscripts published in Global Change are open access and available to use at no charge to the reader.

Global Change is the Open Access successor journal to Interdisciplinary Peace Research, Vol. 1-5, 1989-1993; Pacifica Review, Vol. 6-14, 1994-2002 and Global Change, Peace & Security, Vol. 15-34, 2003-2022.

This evolution follows Global Change, Peace and Security Inc. and the Global Change, Peace and Security Editorial Board's decision to end its publishing contract with Taylor and Francis (Routledge) in 2024.
